Open your GPX file in an instant

Route, distance, elevation and elevation profile, with no account and no app. Your file never leaves your device.

What is a GPX file?

GPX is the standard format for sharing routes: a list of points (latitude, longitude, often altitude) read by GPS watches, Strava, Komoot, Openrunner and most sports apps.

There are two kinds. A track records where you went, point by point, often with the time. A route describes a path to follow, planned in advance. This tool reads both.

How it works

  1. 01

    Drop your file

Drag your .gpx into the frame or choose it, on a computer or a phone.

  2. 02

    Read your route

Route shape, distance, elevation gain and loss, altitudes and profile show up right away.

  3. 03

    Share it clean

Download a version with no times and no device data, ready to send to someone or load on your watch.

Your file stays with you

  • Read on your device

The file is not sent to any server: reading and calculations happen in your browser.

  • Nothing that gives you away

A watch track tells the time of every point. The clean GPX removes it before you share your route.

  • Free, no account

No sign-up, no file limit, no ads.

Your route, and people to do it with you

In the Buddiz app, import this GPX into your routes and propose a session on it: local athletes are notified and can join you. Running, cycling, hiking.

Frequently asked questions

How do I open a GPX file?

Drop it into the frame at the top of this page: the route, distance and elevation show up without installing anything. On a phone, pick the file from your downloads or the Files app.

Is my file sent anywhere?

No. It is read by your browser, on your device. Buddiz does not receive it or keep it.

What is the difference between a track and a route?

A track records a route actually done, point by point, often with the time of each point. A route describes a path planned in advance. Both open here.

Why download a clean GPX?

A watch track contains the time of every point, and sometimes the device model. The clean GPX keeps only the route and altitude: you can share it without telling when you were where.

Is the elevation gain accurate?

It is computed from the file's altitudes, ignoring small GPS variations on flat ground. It may differ by a few meters from your watch, which sometimes uses a barometer.

What can I do with my route next?

Load it on your watch, send it to a friend, or import it into Buddiz to propose a session on it and find people to do it with.
